There is an identified need to reduce the high numbers of hospital admissions due to preventable dental conditions, particularly in the < 10 years of age population, and also to address the high rate of tooth decay in Aboriginal children compared to non-Aboriginal. There is benefit in equipping primary health providers with further skills and knowledge to be able to better screen patients at risk of developing preventable dental conditions, improve oral health education to patients, and to improve strategies for dental referrals.

Dr Mark Penrose has worked at SA Dental as a Dental Officer for over 30 years, including clinical leadership roles as a Senior Practitioner and State-wide Lead Clinician for Child Dental Services.
Mark has experience working in the SA Dental General Anaesthetic program, providing dental care for children requiring extractions under GA and will provide a public dental perspective on meeting the oral health needs for South Australian children.
Dr Satya Vegunta has worked at SA Dental as a Dental Officer for over ten years, including clinical leadership roles as a Senior Practitioner and State-wide Lead Clinician for Adult Dental Services.
Satya has experience working in the SA Dental Special Needs Unit, providing dental care for clients with a range of special needs and will provide a public dental perspective on meeting the oral health needs for South Australian adults.
Kristy Nixon has worked at SA Dental for the last ten years overseeing Health Promotion projects and Special Programs to raise oral health awareness and literacy and support access to dental services for priority populations.
Kristy was involved in writing the SA Oral Health Plan 2019 -2026 and will provide a policy perspective for oral health in South Australia with a particular focus on priority populations.
Bio
Dr Skalicky (often referred to as ‘Dr Rose’), is a senior Emergency Physician with extensive national and international experience. Having worked as an emergency physician in Tasmania, Queensland, and South Australia (RAH), Dr Rose headed overseas in 2009. With a passion for equitable access to healthcare and international development in EM, Dr Rose has spent the last decade working overseas in a fulltime capacity – remote NW Tanzania and most recently in Myanmar. In Myanmar, Dr Rose worked under the Ministry of Health developing acute emergency services and training nationally, which included a full-time teaching and clinical load. Having returned to Australia in early 2021 Dr Rose is currently employed by the RFDS as a Rural Generalist in Critical Care, working primarily out of Port Augusta.

·Health care development of EM in low-middle income countries
·Capacity building of Health staff
When not at work Dr Rose enjoys caring for her family, reading, craft, and obviously seeing new places, and engaging with people from different cultures.
