Every year many thousands of people from refugee backgrounds settle in Australia. They come from locations where they may have endured conflict, persecution and dislocation from the homes, families and culture. Whilst many refugees will have similar health concerns to their Australian – born counterparts, they may also have issues specific to their country of origin and their migration and settlement experience. General practice and primary health has a key role to play in undertaking post-arrival health assessments and providing ongoing care. This workshop aims to provide basic information and skills to assist in this process.

It may also enable us to give someone on a wait list your seat at the event. If we are notified in time to reduce catering numbers with a venue and not be charged, funding can be put towards future education events enabling us to offer more topics.
