This activity particularly supports GP’s as CPD changes occur in 2022-2023, and a professional development plan is required. However, the research skills and the plan will be applicable to other health care professionals.
Professional self-development plans (PDPs) are increasingly used to guide professional education, and this workshop will explore the reasons for this. Evidence for their use will be sought and their value explored.
This highly interactive and skills-based activity (2 x 2-hour sessions in September, 4 hours in total) also incorporates a review of several research skills as applied to PDPs.
The first session on September 6th will involve a refresher on how to do a literature review and appraise the evidence.
In the second session on September 27th, participants will have appraised some of the evidence for plans, and together the group will design an appropriate draft plan including goals and activities. The group will then apply it to their own learning.

Bio
Dr Skalicky (often referred to as ‘Dr Rose’), is a senior Emergency Physician with extensive national and international experience. Having worked as an emergency physician in Tasmania, Queensland, and South Australia (RAH), Dr Rose headed overseas in 2009. With a passion for equitable access to healthcare and international development in EM, Dr Rose has spent the last decade working overseas in a fulltime capacity – remote NW Tanzania and most recently in Myanmar. In Myanmar, Dr Rose worked under the Ministry of Health developing acute emergency services and training nationally, which included a full-time teaching and clinical load. Having returned to Australia in early 2021 Dr Rose is currently employed by the RFDS as a Rural Generalist in Critical Care, working primarily out of Port Augusta.

·Improving equity in health access
·Health care development of EM in low-middle income countries
·Capacity building of Health staff
When not at work Dr Rose enjoys caring for her family, reading, craft, and obviously seeing new places, and engaging with people from different cultures.
