GPs, Nurses & Pharmacists in the Adelaide Metropolitan Area

GPs and Nurses working in general practice, Pharmacists and local council nurses in the Adelaide metropolitan area are invited to attend the 2023 influenza season update.
Last year, the 2022 influenza season began earlier compared to recent years, where activity increased sharply in early May and subsequently peaked in June. Notifications substantially decreased in July and remained low until the end of the 2022 season.
There were 225,332 notifications of laboratory-confirmed influenza in Australia in 2022, and with increased social mixing and social contact returning towards pre-pandemic norms in 2023, it is expected that 2023 flu season will again see seasonal influenza virus (and other respiratory viruses) co-circulating alongside COVID 19. The need for high flu vaccination uptake in 2023 is paramount.
The update will discuss:
– Influenza disease and complications
– What might we expect in 2023
– In co-circulation flu and COVID – should we worry?
– Influenza vaccines
– Influenza program recommendations

Learning Outcomes

Recognise Influenza disease and identify common disease complications
Identify current influenza program recommendations including current vaccines
Describe the impact of current co-circulating influenza and COVID viruses in 2023

Why do we charge this fee?

This fee is to cover administration, catering, venue and speaker costs.

It may also enable us to give someone on a wait list your seat at the event. If we are notified in time to reduce catering numbers with a venue and not be charged, funding can be put towards future education events enabling us to offer more topics. Very low attendance numbers notified with enough notice may also enable us to re-schedule the event to a future date.
