Chronic diseases are major contributors to the mortality gap between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and other Australians. The major contributors are heart disease, diabetes, liver diseases, chronic lower respiratory disease, cerebrovascular diseases and cancer. Many of these diseases are associated with a range of inter-related factors that are common to more than one disease. This interactive case-based workshop offers participants opportunity to better understand best practice in managing these illnesses in Aboriginal people and to develop a greater appreciation of the other factors impacting Aboriginal health and treatment of chronic disease.

Why do we charge this fee?
This fee is to cover administration, catering, venue and speaker costs.
Your notification of your inability to attend enables us to provide courtesy notification to speakers who are giving of their valuable time of a drop in attendance numbers. It may also enable us to give someone on a wait list your seat at the event. If we are notified in time to reduce catering numbers with a venue and not be charged, funding can be put towards future education events enabling us to offer more topics. Very low attendance numbers notified with enough notice may also enable us to re-schedule the event to a future date. For these reasons, please let us know with as much notice as possible if you cannot attend.
